Our Mission
The Asian Resilience for Climate & Environment Joint Laboratory (ARCE-Asia Joint Lab) is an international initiative uniting leading scholars and institutions to enhance Asia’s scientific understanding, risk assessment, and adaptive capacity in response to climate change and extreme weather events.
The Climate Challenge in Asia
Extreme heat and humid heat have emerged as some of the most lethal and pervasive climate risks in Asia, compounded by population aging, urban density, and infrastructure stress. These factors pose systemic challenges to public health, power reliability, and social equity.
What We Aim to Achieve
By developing coordinated datasets, methodologies, and transnational collaboration, ARC-Asia Joint Lab aims to:
Deepen understanding of climate impacts on Asia’s economy, society, and ecosystems.
Provide authoritative scientific evidence for adaptation strategies.
Strengthen Asia’s role in global climate policy, especially in shaping loss and damage financing under the Paris Agreement.
